Slideshow on Pilgrim Century American Architecture
During their first American century European settlers constructed buildings that ranged from basic protection to grand country homes such as the Winslow House. Although few of these structures survive intact today, the early homes helped define the American community and lifestyle. On Thursday February 23, at 1:00 pm a slideshow will be presented on Pilgrim Century American Architecture. The presentation will be slanted toward New England examples, but it also will overview architecture from the Connecticut River Valley, New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Charlotte. European inspirations will be acknowledged. The program will run about one hour and afterwards there will be refreshments, coffee, and informal discussions. The speaker will be antiques writer Bob Jackman. OPTIONAL: If you have materials relating to Pilgrim Century Architecture bring them to the show, and Bob will be happy to offer comments. Admission is free.
